Comments:
19 boats finished the final race of the championship. With less wind than the previous day, regular crews returned to their boats. With Sean Cochrane competing for the overall championship against William Wallis in the Wayfarers and with only 1/2 point separating them, the two of them set to in a match race which took them all over the harbour!. Sean was able to successfully prevent William from moving up the fleet and after a tense close race the pair of them took 6th and 7th on corrected time giving Sean the overall Championship victory and William the overall Wayfarer series. Meanwhile Rupert Taylor and Mike Toogood had a great race looking for a race 5 victory in the Wayfarers. It was Rupert who was able to finish 15 seconds in front of Mike and narrowly missing taking 2nd position on corrected time, which went to Gerry MacNulty in the K2. The line honours went to the girls Emma and Pippa in the flying 15 who also held their time to take the win for race 5. The Ette fleet had a magnificent race with Adrian Masterson taking the Ette victory win 6 seconds ahead of Jerome Mayhew. Jan Panman took a comfortable 3rd whilst Patrick Taylor and James Gartside once again fought for the finish line with James pipping Patrick by a marginal 3 seconds. A great spectator race to finish the final race of the championship.
